MORE WABI SABI
This is the Japanese term for a type of beauty which is simple, natural, imperfect and maybe worn and old. The opposite would be refined, perfect and made of valuable, rare materials.
When I became aware of Wabi Sabi I saw it all around me. I now know why I love our simple life style in the Karoo surrounded by an environment that is old and has many layers, from the fossilised mud that we walk on in the morning to the old crumbling building that we live in.
This leaf has been lying on my studio step for two days delighting with its bright colour against the worn step with cracks and splashes of paint.
