HOMAGE TO THE OLD PEACH TREE
I think that it may be an Alberta peach tree, much loved for its sweet juicy peaches with deep yellow flesh, good for eating and bottling. Unfortunately it bears its fruit late in the season giving the fruit fly ample time to do its worst. Parts of the tree have died back but this shoot could well become the new tree with careful pruning.
It would be a shame to lose the old fruit trees in the garden as the modern hybrids are not the same.
