Bus stop with a view

This was a last minute blip, taken as I was about to jump on the airport bus (just visible on the right of the photo) this morning. The Golden Tower is on the north bank of the Guadalquivir. Its name comes from the colour of pressed hay from which it was built (with lime and mortar) in the early 13th century. There used to be a great chain from here to the other side of the river which could be raised to stop enemy ships. The tower was threatened by road widening, but saved by popular appeal, and is now a naval museum. The tree with beautiful mauvy-blue flowers in front of it is one of the thousands of Jacaranda that are flowering in Seville at the moment, and were introduced from South America.
