In the bleak mid winter

Am I alone in wanting to see the end of January?  On my daily walk I met our young Polish neighbour, who works in IT from home and taking a computer break, and she said she couldn’t wait to see the back of January and February too.

But I reckon if we don’t get another cold spell within the next two weeks we can assume the worst of the winter is over and we can start gardening again.

Our garden certainly needs some TLC and so far only snowdrops have appeared, though there is plenty of evidence that deer have been feasting in it.
