Chatsworth House fly past

Today is the 70th anniversary of The Dam Busters. To remember this, a Lancaster bomber, two Spitfires and two Tornados performed a ceremonial fly past over Chatsworth House. Other events took place over the Derwent Reservoir and in other parts of the country.

We had no idea that this was happening when my American friend and I arrived at this magnificent stately home.

Crowds gathered in front of the Grand Cascade and pointed cameras into the skies above the house.

I have more skilled photos from today, but this is such a rare opportunity for a blip that I couldn't resist this choice.
