Love lock

I have to cross over the overflow spillway bridge at the dam for Lake Murray when I drive to and from bowling so today I pulled into the parking area to take a short walk to get photos of the locks that people have added to the high fencing at the bridge.

There were thousands of locks of all shapes and sizes. The purple ribbons are there in honor of Ava who may be fighting a dreaded disease...love ribbons.

This little heart lock was a perfect example of the love lock. I know there are many bridges around the world with locks attached to signify a love.  These have been here for several years.. more than 10 for sure and there is still room for more.  Unless the powers that be decide to cut them all off.


There is also a walk way along the dam separated from the road by a short concrete wall. The round trip walking across is about 3.5 miles.  I have done it many times but walking on concrete with zooming cars going by is not good for stress relief.  It has been a few years for that walk.
