Hampshire treasures

Today was a varied one for us. First  we attended uke class in Winchester. There was an amazing turnout with 44 people happily strumming ukuleles. Next after a quick turnaround  we headed off to Steep near Petersfield for the  funeral of a good friend, a very longstanding  member  of our London Livery Company. The simple service was held at All Saints church. It is a beautiful, old church( and I know is very well- known to several other blippers,). It dates back to the 12th century with fine Norman arches inside. In my photo you see the  much later oak shingled bell tower erected in 1876 which contains  six bells. It is obviously  a well loved church and the vicar made us feel very welcome. We'd like to revisit, to explore the church and surrounding area  more thoroughly.
In the evening we had our  local RSPB meeting to attend, with the  interesting subject of  Rare Birds of Hampshire. Although we don't see nearly as many rarities  as people in the Shetland Islands,  Norfolk and  Cornwall, it was a reminder to check carefully when out bird watching, as unusual birds can, and do, turn up all over the place!
Interestingly , we spotted a lot of Red Kites in East Hampshire today, now commonplace, but  rarities until twenty  years ago.
