Lanark Moor Parkrun
J had to go to the Farmshop this morning so she drove and dropped us off at Lanark Moor to do the Parkrun. We received the usual Parkrun warm welcome and learned on the start line that it had just been named as Scotland's toughest Parkrun!!
That daunting information apart we both really enjoyed the course. From the Start on the hill here in my blip, we dropped down to do a circuit of the loch and then we were back up the hill to do a loop of very pleasant woodland, albeit with several sharp, steep hills and downhills. I will admit to a couple of sneaky walks here! On leaving the woodland, it was back down the hill to the loch and another partial loop before uphill to the finish.
My time was 35.40, three minutes slower than my previous Myrtle time, unsurprising with lack of knowledge of the course and all the ups and downs. J came to meet us at the finish and suggested the Douglas Bakery for a cuppa. Good job it's not on the doorstep or I would be spending regular time in there! Sausage rolls, cinnamon buns and apple flips were bought and consumed as well as a delicious slab of focaccia to complement the evening meal.
After a relax back at J and P's, we have left P doing his reading for his assignment and done some work in the garden. There are several trees which need thinning to improve their light and health and some which need to come out. Tony has been doing the pruning and heavy work whilst J and I have been chopping up the branches as they come down and doing a bit of tidying.
