What a performance

I took some of my gear into work today and set up a studio in one of the small meeting rooms - we have about 120 people to photograph for ID cards and for material on our web site, all part of setting up a new organisation, and it seemed silly to pay someone when we had the skills and equipment in house.

Nelly being Nelly had to prat around of course, she's quite a dramatic sort in her own right. But I have to say she and the team were absolutely magnificent today. We have a huge meeting tomorrow, with potentially a lot of people coming to debate a very contentious issue, and there has been masses of event management and photocopying to do. Everyone really pulled together and got the job done. Made me feel very proud.

Went to see This House tonight, beamed from the National Theatre on the South Bank to our local cinema as part of the NT Live series. I have to say it was absolutely brilliant. Dramatising the Labour government of 1974-79, it was a superb piece of theatre from an era that I remember well.

Off to bed now. Wish me luck for tomorrow. Hopefully we've got everything organised but I'll be glad when its over ...
