Piccadilly Circus
Fortunately my dizzy spells have subsided, because we were looking after our five-year old granddaughter for several hours today, while Mummy was busy doing other activities with her three-year old sister. We had lots of fun, starting with making a batch of L’s favourite oat, apricot and seed bars. She helped me weigh out the ingredients and then mix them all together, then she helped spread the mixture round in the tin before it went in the oven.
After that she spent some time playing games on Granny’s iPad, while Grandpa was making lunch and Granny was doing a spot of bird watching through the kitchen window. It was busy around the four feeders hanging from the twisted hazel tree; I saw a female blackbird, female blackcap, a male chaffinch (very rare in our garden), some long-tailed tits, two robins, many blue tits and great tits plus a coal tit (also pretty rare here). This is one of the robins sitting on a twisted hazel branch.
By the time Daddy came to take L home, we were pretty shattered. L was slightly reluctant to go home, but at the same time looking forward to showing Mummy the oaty bars she helped make. One will no doubt find its way into her lunch box at school every day for the next few days.
