The last time I'll come this way under these trees

The tree fellers had stopped work for the day, so I wandered, or attempted to wander, up the old track into the woods. Sufficient to say that the conditions underfoot were reminiscent of the Somme from the harvester and forwarder, so I gave up trying to keep my feet and trousers dry and clean.
It's surprisingly difficult to recognise where you are on a very familiar track once a few trees are gone.
To return to the square pillow controversy, I've ordered another pair of proper, rectangular, ones from John Lewis. The only horror that yet awaits the transaction is that they have been put into the hands of the parcel disposal service Nevri (formerly the despised Herpes). The last time I had a package delivered by this ghastly company it appeared to have been kicked around the showers of a rugby club after a particularly wet and muddy game.
