Laura Lace Makkin

A breezy day, cloudy but dry morning, rained in the afternoon, clear skies tonight.

Weekend off work, and slept well.  A morning puttering about the house, and then headed out walkies around the village.  Mam, Laura and Elise popped by this afternoon for a cuppa.  Headed over to see big Brian and Madeline this evening, and then met friend Julie for walkies.  Meeting up with friends later for a pint.

Laura has been at a local knitting class today, learning how to knit traditional Shetland lace.  She's made a terrific start to her lace scarf, using a two ply wool.  Mam learned lace knitting growing up, it was just life back then, so Laura has mam for backup if anything goes wrong, sure it won't.  Laura busy working away with her makkin by my peat fire, one thing she does need, a makkin belt instead of a cushion.  Taken at home, Houl Road, Scalloway.
