Under Pressure!
Blood pressure that is…
I woke up this morning feeling sore but less sore than usual - about a 7/10. I had my coffee and some toast (usually have porridge but had ran out) and made a second cup of coffee.
I decided not to bother venturing out to the shop for a newspaper as I felt a little dizzy. The fibro pain settled within an hour - very unusual! I used the electric heat pad as I do every morning.
The dizziness continued and I think I had a bit of a palpitation. I just felt off. Anyway, I have had high blood pressure in the past (think it was stress related) and am overdue a check for that due to having been so under the weather with my fibromyalgia and the foot burn incident.
I took my blood pressure and it was higher than I would have liked. I took it again two hours later and avoided any more caffeine. I took it a third time later on in the evening, it was a bit higher again.
I did absolutely nothing today except hang up some laundry.
I have been feeling very fatigued. I had a chilled afternoon listening to Pick of the Pops on BBC Radio 2 as I usually do - I only listened to 1968 as I got sleepy but didn’t nap. I watched the birds at the feeder outside the window - snapped a blurry pic of a wood pigeon (extra).
The birds were really scrapping with each other over the food today! The collared doves that visit really know me now. They look in at me if they see me at the window if the food is running low!
Anyway, watching the birds, listening to the radio, meditating and resting brought my blood pressure down. I am going to keep an eye on it as I really don’t want to have to take any meds for it.
My Mum is on two types of meds for her high blood pressure/hypotension but she is overweight and over 70, although she has been overweight for several years now and has had high blood pressure since her 50s. My maternal grandfather died of a heart attack as did one of my uncles but they were both heavy smokers and drinkers.
My lifestyle is very healthy. I used to drink a lot of alcohol (vodka only as wines, beers etc give me asthma attacks due to the sulphites) when I was much younger but kicked that. I have never smoked and I take as much gentle exercise as my fibromyalgia allows.
I have taken vitamin supplements since I was eighteen, eat very little red meat, loads of fresh fruit and vegetables and drink a lot of water.
Today is World Cancer Day and I wrote some memories online today about my Uncle Robert and my Great Auntie Sadie, both of whom passed away due to cancer. It’s an awful disease.
Both my parents have had it - one dead (my biological father, terminal Stage 4, bowel cancer), one alive (Stage 2, my Mum, breast cancer). I hope I don’t get it. Genetics are a bitch…
My other extras are of my dinner this evening - a Sweet and Sour Chicken from Tesco for a Saturday night treat watching The Masked Singer and the other blood pressure reading.
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend so far. It’s way, way past my bedtime!
Thanks for all your kind comments, stars, hearts and continued support on here - I really appreciate it :) xx
