Bristol Light Festival 1
I visited the two installations nearest to home. The main is in Temple Church - which was bombed in 1940 and left as a shell without a roof. They have placed 25 mirrored monoliths inside, and as you wander through them you get wonderful reflections of the structure all around you. The first extra shows the church, which as you can see is pretty fabulous anyway. Originally built by the Knights Templar in the 12th century.
The second extra is the installation within St Mary Redcliffe Church - a hologram which represents Ophelia drowning. Not quite sure how holograms work, but the figure was moving, and occasionally shoals of fish swam around her. An amazing illusion. I think there are echoes of the pre-Raphaelite Ophelia. I thought it was beautiful, and melancholy.
The festival is on for several days, so I hope to show more of it.
