Thaw

The brutal temps have left us, thankfully. The day warmed nicely from single negative numbers to near 30 today. That’s a 50 degree swing from 24 hours before. Our loading the wood boiler every 45 minutes was lengthened to our normal every couple of hours, and there was heat to spare!

This weekend gave us a moment to truly evaluate where our house has inefficiencies. The windows were the main issue. The dining room window especially proved very little insulation and weatherproofing. To lessen the heat loss, I picked up thermal curtains. This is a bandaid fix for now, and we’ll be looking into replacement windows this summer.

I can honestly say, todays sunshine and warmer temps was a welcome change!
