Bats In The Belfry

This is the BATS costume store. Well, part of it, anyway. It occupies a goodly proportion of the roof space of the Bryce Institute and is absolutely rammed with costumes and accessories. Access is by a somewhat precarious loft ladder and mere mortals like myself are only allowed up under the strict supervision of our costume mistress.
I had gone to borrow a costume to wear in “Blackadder” as the one Footlights had found not only looked awful, but it didn’t fit. I remembered wearing a really nice costume in a sketch about Shakespeare, several years ago and - thanks to the policy of never throwing anything away - it was still there. Even better, it wasn’t as tight as last time I wore it! I picked up a few ruffs and shoe buckles as well, because Footlights don’t have any.
I’m guessing we may have to have a big clear out at some point in the future, to avoid the possibility of the costume store ending up in the flat below if the floor gives way! For now though, it remains as a record of just about every show/pantomime we’ve ever done.
I’m sure fellow blipper dunkyc will recognise a few frocks he’s worn in his time. And there’s a phrase you don’t hear every day!
