Yellow Hammer

A 5 mile circular walk today with a number of reasonable pictures taken, but I've chosen this yellow hammer as it was a bit more of a challenge than the cows and sheep! I did have to crop it quite a bit as it was a long way away, but I'm pleased with the result.

Even though the sun was not shining much and it was quite cold, the birds were singing their hearts out at points today. The swallows were swooping over the river for the flies and the fish in the river were grabbing those who settled off the surface from below. The lambs were skipping in the fields ... it was a great day to be out, although it was a bit too cold when we stopped for our picnic.
