Waterloo Sunset . . . The Kinks

This is looking west this evening.  In the North Island Cyclone Gabrielle is due to engulf the entire island if the weather predictions are correct.  Our trees are just blowing a little bit.  The lovely daughter has received a message saying they can work from home.  She thinks she will see what the weather is like tomorrow.  Talking to her on the phone she reminded me that as a 12 year old she biked home from school during an ash shower when the volcano to the south of Lake Taupo erupted.  I was home that day but I didn't drive and pick either child up.  Were we more blaze back then?  Anyway schools are shut tomorrow and the Auckland Airport has stopped flights.  Lots of drama and all will be revealed tomorrow.
