Up, up, up

Hythe beach at this end  is shingle rather than sand and every year, when we come after winter, the beach shelves in a different way because winter storms have moved tons of shingle. At the moment there are deep shelves of shingle and a flat area close to the sea. This is good for walking by the waves, but it is a bit difficult climbing back up.

Mum came to collect our two visitors and we went along for 'lunch on the beach' and it was actually on the beach in the sunshine. As we walked back I stayed on the promenade but everyone else went down to the sea. Here three of them are making their way back up, not realising that grandad was still down skimming stones. The two girls hastened back down and were soon being taught by an expert - makes a change from geography!

Everything seems quiet now, but we have had a lovely few family days.

Extra: Alice and I watched the sun come up through the mist this morning - magical.
