Coffee sacks

I still can't dig because of my nasty sciatica.

Usually at this time of year, I'd be digging up a trench along the middle of my bean tunnel, which I'd fill with kitchen waste to ensure there's a good supply of nutrients for the hungry feeders I grow there in the summer.

This year, I can only contemplate a no-dig alternative: I'll be putting biodegradable bags full of kitchen waste over the soil, then cover with coffee sacks (pegged down) to stop rats/foxes (or other urban wildlife) from getting to it before it has a chance to break down. I could even add grass clippings and woodchips in the next couple of months.
