Valentine’s Day Via St Vigeans To Stonehaven.
An email from The Bay Fish & Chip Shop located on the Beach Promenade, Stonehaven offering a Valentine’s Discount gave the shape to our day. The weather forecast was good.
After Breakfast prepared by Patricia (hearts with everything) we headed off to Stonehaven via St Vigeans, a small village near Arbroath, but very important in the history of The Picts.
The first extra gives a short description of St Vigeans, complete with a ghostly reflection of myself. The building in the reflection is the church and the Celtic cross is the war memorial.
St Vigeans has a Pictish Stone Museum which is featured in the second extra. The museum is closed, however, I have very full information on the contents. We are planning to visit.
The viewpoint is from the church which sits atop a prominent knoll. I do wonder if this is man made nearly 2000 years ago.
The final extra shows a new carved stone which is referred to in the text displayed in the second extra.
We then made our way to Stonehaven and enjoyed our Fish and Chips which were ready for us at the time agreed when we placed the order.
Afterwards we stopped at E.Giulianotti’s in Evan Street to enjoy their fantastic ice creams. The second reason to travel to Stonehaven.
After we arrived home, we opened a bottle of bubbly to toast our 39th Anniversary of our engagement.
The next 39th Anniversary is of our wedding in August. The same date as Pat’s birthday. The ceremony took place in the church which is now our home.
