Sarah and I travelled together from Dumfries to Redhill today without a hitch or a hint of delay. Friendly and polite train staff, uncrowded carriages, considerate fellow passengers..

Between Euston and St Pancras we ate lunch from this stall, Turkish gözleme (stuffed flatbread) which the woman made in front of us, rolling the dough on the round wooden board and cooking it on the griddle.

Chris picked us up from Redhill and now I am relaxing with an Old Fashioned while he and Sarah cook up something tasty for our tea (Miso butter greens, by Meera Sodha).
