Strawberry patch
I have inherited three raised strawberry beds from the previous owner. I have grown strawberries before, much to the delight of rabbits, birds and slugs, but not in these quantities! I spent the day trying to make sense of the largest bed which has become a bit overgrown with runners and weeds, but is helpfully netted against rabbits and birds. I have got rid of the weeds and a lot of dead foliage, and I want to move some of the plants tomorrow (or maybe in a day or two as high winds are forecast) so that there is space to walk between the rows. I will put some in the polytunnel, maybe in hanging baskets, and I will mulch the bed and give a bit of frost protection to replace that given by the dead foliage. However I ran out of daylight today so temporarily covered the plants with fleece - which will no doubt blow away overnight!
Anyway I found this brave attempt at an early flower, hope it is a sign of good things to come.
