Mizzly and drizzly and a bit of RANTING!!

It's not been very nice today. I've trekked around town and been down to the beach twice and we got soaked both times. It didn't really seem like it was raining but it was the type of rain that just gradually drizzled all over us so that by the time we got home, we were very wet.

Also, much as we love St Ives (and I get to play on the beach every day), there isn't the variety of walks that we have in Edinburgh. We seem to walk in the same places every day and although I don't mind where I go for my walks, Ann gets a bit fed up going on the same routes all the time and having to walk up very steep hills to get home. Oh well, ho hum, we can't have everything I suppose.

Both of us love our house here better than our flat in Edinburgh. Ann loves it because she doesn't feel so isolated. Ie, she can go out onto our sun terrace and chat to the neighbours or go outside our front door and chat to the neighbours. (We live in a fourth floor flat in Edinburgh and although it has fabulous views, we hardly ever see any of the other residents). And I love it because our sun terrace is big enough for me to lie in different places and just take in the air. And I can also put my paws up on the wall and check out what is going on. I love chillaxing outdoors. (Our balcony in Edinburgh is too small for me and also I can't see what is happening down below).

Anyway, I didn't eat my breakfast this morning so I asked for early dinner at 4.30pm. That's all gobbled up now and it's still mizzly and drizzly so Ann's going to have salmon, cauliflower & cheese sauce for tea and we're going to spend the evening watching TV. #weknowhowtolive

Oh and in other news.................... As our regular followers will know; we rent out our home in St Ives when we're not here and tbh it rents out very well and we make enough money for me to be kept in the style to which I have become accustomed to. However, one of the reasons why Ann likes to come down in the winter, is so that she can check that the heating is working properly and that it's warm enough for our guests. Mmmmm........... it's not been cold here since we arrived and because our house faces south and has floor to ceiling doors/windows onto the sun terrace we haven't had to have any heating on at all during the day. Ann's been putting the heating on at about 5pm in the evening but even now, at 6pm, our weather app is telling us it's 10C?! Also, the other thing Ann likes to check is that all the crockery/cutlery/glasses(at least 2 broken since our last visit)/appliances etc, etc are in good working order. Because Ann deals with all our bookings herself and we come here on a regular basis we can do that. For example, we have two potato peelers and when Ann went to peel me a carrot the other day, both of them were blunt, so obv she needs to buy a new one. Not a massive problem in the big scheme of things, but it's something that we would only know about from living here on a regular basis. We have the bestest housekeeper in the world. #thankyouJulia but we can hardly ask her to peel a few potatoes every time she cleans can we?? And there's also other little niggly things that we just have to put up with, like re-arranging the cupboards or the settings on the TV, or taking the batteries out of the smoke alarms, etc, etc.

For the last four years Ann has worked as a 'Meet & Greeter' at short term lets in Edinburgh, but gave it up just before Christmas, because the level of service that the visitors (& owners) were getting was appalling and she didn't want to be part of it any more. Not everything in the world can be done via an app, which is what the youngsters of today seem to think can happen. Don't want to 'name & shame' the company that Ann was working for, BUT part of her job was to flag up maintenance probs or things like bulbs that needed replacing or keys that were missing. BUT the company is based in Malaysia and everything is done via WhatsApp. And if, for example, the heating wasn't working and my human WhatsApped the powers to be; they'd send her a YouTube link on how to re-pressurise a boiler. Duh!!!! My human is not a gas engineer so she refused to do it, though she suspects that most of their other employees were students so just did what they were told!!!

Anyway, that's enough rantings for one day.

Toodles. xx
