Knitting

I did some prep for my oldest friend Jenny coming tomorrow for lunch with her sister. Her sister was in Mr C’s class at school and she and her second husband used to play bridge with us when we all lived in Suffolk. (They know I’m still not well but want to come anyway.)

Mr C had his NHS hearing test in Newcastle today but it was not a success as he had so much wax in his ears she could not test him. She tried to take it out, to no avail, so he has to go to Specsavers to get it removed. (They no longer do it in the surgery now - you have to go privately). Then he has to ask the GP to refer him for another hearing test appointment. He had to wait 6 months for this one. She said it was 5 years since his last test and he could have had aids then but he chose not to, so he’ll definitely need them now. He knows he can get a test a Specsavers or Boots, but the GP told him they only do a 3 point test whereas NHS does a 12 point one. Very frustrating! More months of blaring TV plus subtitles, as well as having to repeat all I say several times - or shout. I can’t shout nicely - it comes out sounding very cross. At least he’s stopped telling me to stop mumbling.

I’m not getting on very fast with my knitting. The patterns are complicated so I can’t do it even while listening to podcasts, especially the first row of a new pattern. One mistake in counting and it all goes wrong so I’ve had numerous pulling outs to do.
