Snowdrops

They are in full bloom now.. the bees humming round them. I think we have more than normal this year.. they are spreading gently in their clumps.  I don't remember having very many when we moved here 29 years ago and I know I have added a few but mostly they are naturalising.
The cat and the pheasant had a small interaction today.. I had left the back door open for J to go out where she had been a while.. we were drinking coffee leisurely when we heard the cock pheasant sound a loud single warning call.. then another then another.. my curiosity got the better of me and I crept to the door to look.. J was curled on the doorledge.. the pheasant about 10 feet away... J retreated and the pheasant advanced.. I had been told she would not see off a pheasant and looking at this guy I am not entirely surprised!!  (extra)
A few jobs done in and around house and garden and this evening was meant to be the village quiz.  Sadly due to lack of bookings it has been cancelled so we are going up to our teammates to have supper with them instead.  It is a shame for the organisers. We always ran it that the winners of the annual quiz would set and run the next years one. We won it the year before the pandemic and so ended up setting a quiz which we ran online.. which was pretty good as we didn't have to do the catering.. the ticket price includes a two course supper mid way through.  I know how much work goes into the planning of it but sadly there have been no takers this year. .. I think the pandemic has spoiled evenings like this.. but hope that next year more support may be drummed up. I guess it doesn't help that it is half term.. may be a factor.
