Menu

I’ve never blipped a menu before but this one is special.

Camara de Lobos is a charming fishing village not far from Funchal. It is becoming more and more upmarket with new hotels, street art (and considerably more safe and salubrious than in days long ago.)

My photo is of the chalk board which is at the front of the kitchen. Vila do Peixe is a restaurant with a magnificent view where you choose your piece of fish, they weigh it, and then cook it.

I always need help. The names of the fish (along with the prices) are all in Portuguese and I’m fascinated to learn that Bodiao is red snapper, Pargo is parrot fish etc…with the gorgeous guy matching the names to the items on display.

I had Red Snapper with a salad and shared a bottle of delicious Douro white……..

This is certainly the way to spend a lovely Saturday.

(Especially when our boys end up with a draw with Man City )

And more extras - Carnaval 2023
