2023 Thursday — 16th Birthday

Today, February 16, 2023, our oldest great-grandchild turned 16. This has brought lots of thoughts to us.

For this birthday, Tristan was gifted a new Apple iPad and Apple Pencil to draw on. This sparked a bit of a compare and contrast for Mr. Fun & me.

But mostly I have thought about . . . way back on my 16th birthday, 57 years ago, and the flesh and blood tablet and pencil I was given when I gave birth to a son, Tristan’s Grandpa Shawn.

I know that we were entirely too young to be parents; we didn’t have a clue what we were headed into. We came so close to not getting married, so close to giving that baby to adoption. If we had done that, we would not have a granddaughter Desiree and we would not have the most wonderful great-grandson Tristan. A tablet (iPad), a pencil, a life.
