52/365 Viewpoint

Sorry it’s another photo of roaring water but it was yet another amazing experience.

As we travelled from Taupo to Tongariro and the National Park area there we did a detour to see the dam at Aratiatia.

 The reason was that at certain times they open the gates at the dam to let surplus water through into the river downstream of Hula Falls. We arrived in time to see the spectacle at 12 midday from one of the viewpoints.

As the gates were opened more and more water poured through until the river became a raging torrent. Awesome.
