going out on a limb

Hubby and I went to a local woodcarving and woodworking show today. It had a little bit of everything including blank pieces of wood and carving tools for sale, novice whittling projects, toys, ornaments, and expert art pieces.
We were each given a ballot upon entering to vote for the winner of the People's Choice Award. Hubby voted for a whimsical line up of caricatures and I voted for a sleek rendition of a running rabbit.
But ultimately this collection that I have posted is my favorite (it was not eligible for voting). I love how the faces just "emerge" out of the raw wood.
