Byland Abbey

A "day off" today. We started at Thirsk, at the World of James Herriot museum. It was very interesting and well worth a visit. Then we moved on to Northallerton, as I had wanted to go to the Joe Cornish Gallery for a while. We enjoyed lunch in the cafe and then a wander through the gallery. As it was such a glorious day we decided to find somewhere else to go for a walk and ended up at Byland Abbey, followed by tea in a cafe in Ampleforth.  We meandered back cross country for part of the way, enjoying the countryside. A lovely day out.
