What a morning we had!!
S & I had a cosmetic reline to do at both of the Dartmouth Walmarts today. One got done, the other one didn't. The reason why is in the photo.
Another company was in the store on Tuesday doing the nail color reline. For some reason they decided to raid our box of new fixtures. Our boxes say to hold for our company. There is no reason another company should open one of our boxes and use anything in it. S & I had just went out back to see if we could find the nail color reline box when the fire alarm started going off. One of the office staff called out that everyone had to evacuate, that there was an actual fire. We were going to grab our jackets and paperwork on the way thru, but were not even allowed to do that. The temperature this morning was around -8 C and the wind chill made it feel like -18 C. S & I went to sit in her car with the heated seats and kept the motor running so we would have heat.
The Walmart staff also had to leave without their jackets and personal items, they had to stand outside in the cold for a half hour, then they were allowed to move around to the old automotive bays, not that it was much warmer there, but at least they were out of the wind.
After about an hour, one of the managers was allowed to go in and retrieve our jackets, so we were able to carry on with the rest of our day. and we headed off to the other Walmart to get the reline done there. We will have to return one day next week to complete the one at this store.
The fire was arson, and it was set in one of the washrooms at the front of the store. The store ended up being closed the rest of the day, It started around 9:30 am and the staff were being sent home around 3 pm. I'm not sure if the store will be open tomorrow or not.
I was supposed to do the hair color reline tomorrow, after not being able to do it earlier in the week because of a broken printer. Now it might get delayed another day or more, depending on when the store reopens.
S told me how glad she was to have me with her today because I kept calm, so it helped her to stay calm.
