A visit from Jo

Things didn’t go entirely to plan this morning. Jo messaged to say her train from
York was cancelled and as her ticket was only for Pennine Cross Country she couldn’t get another one till later. PCC are notorious for cancelling trains - 30% this last 6 months. I met her at Alnmouth and we got back for a late lunch of a bowl of soup.

Here she is on our walk up the carriage drive to see the decimation from Storm Arwen and the aftermath. We headed out to the moor but she found the boring NE wind a bit much so we cut it short. She lives in Cornwall so is used to milder weather!

I’ve cooked a Spinach, Cheese, pine nut and egg pie for our meal. It’s great to see her - lots of travel chat as she’s been to Guatemala quite recently. We discussed a Scottish politics (a friend who is an SNP member doesn’t like any of the leadership candidates so she’s considering going back to Labour - I bet Labour do much better in Scotland at the next election). Strikes and our support of them, grandchildren and how parenting methods of her son and wife differ so much from hers (they have the 3 year old and one year old sleeping with them).

My Blurb cook book arrived today. It looks great but is too expensive for anyone to buy!
