Egregious.

A recent letter initiated by this ANPR camera pointed out that, despite my good intentions, I had,  some months ago, passed this camera exceeding the speed limit.  The letter politely (but sternly) said that 'egregious repeat speeding' would lead to further action.  I've now spoken to a charming young man in a van doing maintenance work on the camera.  He explained that he not only sets and maintains the cameras, he reviews the data, drafted the standard letter and sends the letters.  We chatted about how many recipients would understand 'egregious' - I think he might be a little optimistic on that front.

P.S.  He is doing a good and necessary job.  So power to his elbow.
