Pick Me Pick Me
Hard to know what to choose from this fabulous day, which bubbled over with blips. The children broke into different groups to get to know each other in an A-Z Scavenger Hunt (involving a lot of ingenuity), then learned about the Trojan Horse, juggling and created their own imaginary creature.
Dinner was fancy dress / Hogwarts school dinner, followed by a concert. I was going to pick Im and Olivia signing up for the concert (a rather bizarre act involving O reciting and Imi dancing to some twee Christmas poems, played it for laughs, and with a fantasy spin - ie pretending they were invoking spells).
The acts were impressive, the most noteworthy being the recitation of the entire 5 minutes of The Man from Snowy River by an 8 year old, but this shot of the final act captures the joy and cameraderie of the event.
Z demanded and deserved the final act - which began with some piano pieces very enthusiastically presented ("Greensleeves - if you don't know this one, you'll just love it!). She finished with a very entertaining magic show, which made up for in humour and stage presence, what it lacked in technical skills. Everyone wanted a turn at the card trick!
