Beauty of Peeling Paint

What is it about this peeling paint that caught my eye?
It's interesting, abstract, layered, weathered.
But the biggest "aha" thought is recognizing that
This paint will someday be stripped away,
Replaced by a fresh, new coat of paint.
And in some ways that will be a loss.
It is ironic to see this potential renewal as a loss.
For I am a perfectionist when it comes to our home.
I see every paint chip, every door that refuses to stay closed,
Every piece of floor molding that is coming loose.
Is it possible to see the beauty in my environment
Without insisting it be perfect?
And can I apply this same measure to myself?
