2023 Monday — Progress, Finally
My apology — I could not get these photos into a collage in a clockwise position. I am using a free “Photo Shop Express” app; all I can do with these four photos is a counterclockwise layout. So, oh well.
Today the roof panels were installed on the patio room. A lot more roof construction is planned to keep rain water from flowing down the roof and into the patio room. So hold your breath, don’t panic (yet), and the next phase of construction should take care of what currently looks like a potential serious problem.
Today was supposed to be “no rain.” That was the forecast. We knew our construction team was planning to be here first thing, which most normal people would think is 8:00 am. Actually the county Building Department allows for earlier than that.
So one “worker,” a wonderful young Hispanic man, Carlos, arrived at 8:50. He actually is hired by the man, Jim, who is (has been) subcontracted by the patio room company to build our room. Jim was so out of control, we told the patio room company that Jim was no longer welcome here.
Jon the trainer took the lead here last week and got our project progressing. So Carlos, who does not speak English, stood here waiting this morning for Jon until 10:10. Jon was waylaid (we think) at the company office (where there are many internal problems — more about these later).
They got busy immediately and when rain started at 2:30, they had three of the four roof panels installed. They then installed the fourth panel as the rain fell and soaked them. Then they called it a day. Rain is forecast for tomorrow and sun for Wednesday, so they are planning to be back Wednesday. We will leave Thursday morning for SoCal; we are hoping the remaining windows and the glass slider door and the regular swinging door will be installed by then. When we return to the Central Coast in a few weeks the plan is for our project to will get attention, especially to the interior details.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
