A gaping hole
Another day, another fully laden car - see extras - reminiscent of our trip over to Ireland in September last year.
We were up at 0700, packed and out by about 0815, breakfast in Portumna at a lovely friendly little cafe. Then on to New Ross where we stopped briefly to pick up the keys. We arrived at the house just after 12, and were greeted by this gaping hole in the kitchen. It had contained an American style fridge freezer. The auctioneer had told us it was staying. It didn't!
We may have found the house sellers/buyers questionnaire tedious when selling in the UK, but it would have prevented this surprise! There is no ambiguity about what is going, what is staying. And it also gives an opportunity for you to say "it can stay at this price"
I messaged the auctioneer, who claims to be as surprised as us!
Oh well, an unscheduled trip to an appliance shop is now necessary - tomorrow.
This, along with tiredness, and a general feeling that the house, being very bare at present, shows its desperate need for some tlc - repairs to walls along with a good fresh paint job, left me feeling a bit flat.
Our man with a van arrived on schedule, was wonderful in carrying all the stuff to suitable locations, including one box that we had brought in the car, but which was too heavy for me to carry upstairs.
We didn't stay long once he had left. Just sorted a few things to keep us going overnight, then locked up and moved on to our AirBnb lodgings.
We've had a lovely (though rather pricy) meal at a seafood restaurant in Wexford, and I'm contemplating an early night. A good night's sleep, followed by a trip to Waterford tomorrow to source and order a suitable appliance to fill the gap; and then some time spent sussing out how to work the heating, along with a couple of hours spent doing some cleaning and sorting, will hopefully dispel my low spirits.
