Amandine's Plot Treize

Turning the compost

At this time of year, I'd usually be in the middle of my compost heap turning it with a garden fork but, with lingering back issues, I had to find a no-dig alternative to tackle the job yesterday.

I transferred the dry contents from the top of the heap into a bulk bag by hand, then moved the wetter compost from the centre of the heap into my wheelbarrow, before gradually adding and mixing everything back in, and watering.

The compost was looking amazing and the red wrigglers are working hard in there! I couldn't believe how many there were, despite the cold. I even saw a frog, who quickly disappeared lower down!
