A Fungus Among Us
We spent the day in Puerto Williams while the ship refueled and took on provisions, and some passengers disembarked to make their way home again. In just a few minutes a whole new bunch of people will board for the next leg of the cruise, so new faces to meet!
We took a very interesting hike through the Parque Etnobotanico Omora this afternoon with an extremely knowledgeable and interesting young guy/park ranger/scientist, who told us all sorts of fascinating facts about the local flora and geology. This is a picture of a type of fungus that likes to grow on certain of the trees here. It is edible, but apparently very fibrous and not very flavourful .... unfortunately I can't remember the name though! (Vacation brain!)
Extras: A view of the river running through the forest -- it is apparently home to lots of beavers as well as rainbow and brown trout. And finally an extremely vivid rainbow which greeted us when we returned to our floating home away from home.
