Protecting women & their babies from #rubella

Rubella remains a threat in areas where few people are vaccinated. It is estimated that 110,000 babies are born disabled each year because their mothers contracted the disease during pregnancy. Countless more women miscarry before coming to term.

IMPACT Foundation Bangladesh have just conducted a rubella awareness drive in five rural villages in Chuadanga District. Here are a fieldworker immunises a queue of adolescent girls - protecting them and their future babies from the disease.
