Philadelphia Flower Show

A wonderful day with close friends !
Tradition: Train to the city, breakfast/brunch at Down Home Diner inside the Reading Terminal, flower show, and leisurely, train ride home.

The Philly Flower Show is back inside the Convention Center. During the pandemic 2020-2022, to accommodate ‘social-distancing’, it was moved outside to a local park. I would have loved to attend / it would have been interesting to see how it was presented outside in a natural habitat. But you had to buy a timed ticket for a specific day, and what if March’s weather turned brutal ? …. Aargh ! ….. so we skipped a few years.
This year’s theme was “The Garden Electric” and the large installations were unique and included many ‘light’ effects. But my favorites are still the smaller presentations; ie. individual ‘rooms’, front doors, back patios, “dress & blended table-top arrangements”, mini-window displays, jewelry! (made from plant pieces?!?) and specialities like this …… shoes made entirely of plant products. The intricacies, creativity & ingenuity of the smaller displays are fascinating. If you look closely, there’s a scene - a couple under an umbrella - in the picture ‘window’ on the side of the shoe. Blue Ribbon First Prize !
