After promising myself that I would never have to zoom again following our various lockdowns, I find myself here again.

A pleasant meeting, though, in that I am getting to revise GCSE Chemistry in order to teach it to a teenager in the Philippines. This particular student is home-tutored, which in her case means teaching herself! I’m just a page or three ahead of her. The issue is understanding. Also not knowing that she is allowed (expected!) to look at the Periodic Table when studying electronic structure of atoms and she is definitely not expected to learn the position of the elements off by heart! She was mightily relieved.

So I’ve had a bright, early and snow-bound start to the day. And Chemistry! What’s not to like?
