Flowers and frustrations

Today we've come to check up on my Mum's house and, most importantly, check up on the tortoise hibernating in her shed. He's still alive (big sigh of relief!) and still tucked up fast asleep  in his bed of hay in his little house (another big sigh of relief!). He's coming to live with us, and this week we've had an enclosure constructed for him in our garden. (To be blipped at a future date!)

We visited my aunt who lives nearby who kindly took us out to lunch at a fish restaurant, but first she proudly  showed us this magnificent Hippeastrum (amaryllis) flower she had grown.

When we went out to the restaurant we had a great problem trying to use a Harrow Council owned  car park. Cards and cash were not accepted for  payment. You either had to download  an App, ( which didn't seem to work)  or phone a number and follow incredibly complicated automated instructions for entering your car registration number. I just could not make a payment, and other people were experiencing  similar difficulties. In the end, along with others, we gave up. We drove a mile away, to where  my Aunt knew there was a free car park, left the car there, and caught a bus to where we needed to go.
It is not the first time I've come across a car park with App payment only, which I find annoying anyway, but never so user unfriendly as to day!  It is a growing, and  worrying trend, I fear, to expect everyone to have a smart phone on them  at all times, and  be proficient at using it for all manner  of operations. (Or am I merely a dinosaur?)
Fortunately, after that, the lunch was excellent and the  bus service was good.
