Lifting a face to the sun
The crocus are beginning to fade but, even after the frost overnight, some of them still had the strength to open fully and lift their faces to the sun. While Bertie and I were out in the woods in the afternoon, I tried to track the long tailed tits that were flitting from tree to tree but not one would stay still long enough for me to photograph them. On the other hand, Bertie was very patient (extra) and sat waiting for me as I (very precariously) hopped over some stones to get to the other side of the stream to check the level of our water intake pipe. Because we have had a dry period, the stream has decreased dramatically in volume and consequently the level of our wee reservoir has dropped. Fortunately, there are still several inches of water above the intake and I’m sure it won’t be long until we have some rain to top it up again. After all, we do live on west coast Scotland.
