Rain and gusty winds
So another indoor blip.
Sorting out many more books to take the Oxfam Bookshop.
Found this 800 page Encyclopedia of Needlework which is apparently quite famous.
It was first published in 1886. We inherited it from Mrs. K’s mother.
Written by Therese de Dillmont, 1846 - 1890, an Austrian artist who moved to France near the end of her life. The Encyclopedia was published in Mulhouse and was translated into 17 languages. Our copy says that 1,540,000 copies had been sold.
It has thousands of illustrations and my Blip shows two sample pages.
Times have changed for the better as the original French edition was entitled
Encyclopedia des Ouvrage de Dames !
I think this one will stay with us. Unless of course my blip friend who does lots of needlework does not have a copy.
