Seeds of change...

It's been a very long day...

Up at six, took Alex to the station, filled the car with petrol, then off to Sainsbury's to fill the cupboards. Before I knew it, it was time to get Ben up, ready for his chemistry exam. We had a quick early lunch and then our friends arrived, to travel with us to St. Neot's, where the boys were sitting their paper.

Those who've followed my journal will know how difficult Ben finds dealing with exams, a consequence of his ASD. He was very anxious today, but managed to keep his feelings under control. Bernice and I had a pleasant couple of hours in Priory Park, walking, sitting and chatting, before we returned to the school to collect them.

Eventually Ben and Niall came out, accompanied by a teacher. The exam had been quite hard, there'd been a lot of other people in the room, but he'd coped and came out smiling. That's worth more to me than his final result...

I don't think he'll ever like exams...he'll always have difficulty doing some things that many people find easy...but he's learning strategies to deal with this...that's truly the seeds of progress.
