Wound up in Wexford

By Neatwithice

All go in the rain.

Last week, W contacted K regarding solar panels.  We first met K back in January 2022.  K visited on Monday, and discussed the positioning of what will be ground based panels.  He suggested fixing the framework for the panels using large "screws", called augers, into the ground, and said he would arrange for the person who does this work for him to visit.

D (white hard hat) visited today.  The problem with this approach to fixing is that we have geothermal heating, and the groundworks for this (long pipes running around about 1 metre below ground) are somewhere in the back garden, but we don't know exactly where.

So D brought a scanner, and found stuff - uncertain nature - all over the area.  He then summoned A (red hard hat), a local chap who can put in concrete hard standings.  Because of the rain, A was around, and could come immediately.  Turned out A (who lives very near here) was partially involved during the construction of this house (in a junior capacity), in 2005, and described the long coils in much of the back garden.  He used rods to detect some fluid filled pipes, but although there seemed to be none in the back corner where the solar panels will go, the general consensus was that concrete hard standings was a better option than augers.

D also has geothermal heating, and was able to recommend the chap who services his heat pump, and S will come sometime next week.

Local connections!  So useful.
