Blencathra and Tewet Tarn
What a superb day! We'd had a serious dump of snow overnight a nd woke up to snow in Keswick.
We had a walk down to Crow Park overlooking Derwentwater. I've never been here when there had been so much snow. It was amazing. We had a quick coffee and wander around Keswick before an early lunch back at the apartment. We then set off for Tewet Tarn via the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Track.
I could have stayed here all afternoon. So many photography opportunities and views. If you look hard enough you'll see a photographer on the left of the tarn.
From here we made our way up to Castlerigg Stone Circle. (see first extra) By this point in the afternoon there were many footprints around the stones but thviews of the surrounding hills was worth the visit.
We then took a narrow lane back to Keswick where the snow lay in huge drifts. (see second extra).
A day's walk to remember. And just being in the right place at the right time, as we'd booked this trip ages ago, so couldn't have predicted the weather.
