Soul Food

Last night Farmerboy and I went to Kelvin Cruickshank's 'Soul Food' show in Nelson. We have read all of his four books; the last one being the one shown in my photo.

The theatre was full - we were sitting upstairs in the 'dress circle' - not sure how we managed that, perhaps because we left our booking rather late.

With neither of us not knowing what to exactly expect, we went into the theatre with an open mind. During the three hours at the show, Kelvin answered many questions from the audience, and gave about 10, pretty involved readings. It was interesting watching him talk to the Spirit's - at times he had several lined up behind him, trying to get his attention. He would talk to them quietly (without the microphone), going from his left to right (and vise versa) as each Spirit came forward to talk to him.

Occasionally, the Spirit's would pass on information that didn't quite make sense to anyone in the audience. He said that many people have gone away thinking about what has been said, and after having a bit of time, have made the connection. Kelvin knows this, as the people have e-mailed him telling him that the connection had been made.

We had met Kelvin before. Last year we went to visit the Pike River memorial, at the Pike River mine entrance. For those of you who don't know, Pike River Mine had a major catastrophe several years ago, when the underground mine exploded, killing all 29 miners inside. The bodies have never been recovered.

The night before meeting Kelvin, he had just held one of his shows in Greymouth, about 30 minutes away from Pike River. He had come to look at the memorial, and reflect. We had our photo taken with him, and then we all went on our way.

Last night was an interesting show, and one that we are pleased to have attended. Kelvin has wonderful powers, and it is so nice to see him being able to bring through messages to people in the audience who obviously were still in pain from losing their loved ones.
